309 Stainless Steel Plate contains 22-24% chromium as its base for top oxidation protection while functioning with 12-15% nickel to achieve toughness and reaching structural strength through 0.08% max carbon. The material consists of 2% max manganese for hardness in addition to 1% max silicon for oxidation resistance and 0.04% max phosphorus, 0.03% max sulfur, and 0.10% max nitrogen, which together deliver excellent weldability and durability. The composition of this material makes it suitable for operating in hot and corrosive conditions.
